A sugar refractometer for measuring the density of your beer or wine.
Many brewers prefer to use this instead of a hydrometer because they find it quicker and easier to get an accurate reading. A refractometer will allow you to take instant gravity measurements during mash run-off or during the boil. It works like a hydrometer except you only need a few drops and there is no need to cool a trial jar of liquid before taking a reading.
Using a refractometer lets you check the progress of your brew so you can make adjustments along the way. A valuable tool for all-grain and extract brewers.
To use, apply 2-3 drops to the prism face, close the cover and wait 30 seconds. Look through the eye-piece - the line on the screen will show the Brix % and Specific Gravity reading.
This model comes with ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation) allowing you to use the refractometer between 10 / 30 degrees Celsius so the temperature of the sample is irrelevant. It also includes an LED light for easy reading in low light areas giving a good clear display. This high quality refractometer is extremely accurate and easy to use and calibrate.
