Magic Dart aims for an American-style golden ale with a combo of US and kiwi hops combining sweet stone fruit and tropical aromas. This beer received a Gold Medal at the New Zealand Beer Awards '26
THE YARN BEHIND THE BREW
Back in the day, Whare Matangi, estranged son of Ngarue, was given a magic dart, or tara, that would lead him to his father. After a few throws the tara hit Ngarue’s house at the mouth of the river. The place became known as Te Whai-tara uni-a-Ngarue, or Waitara.
IBU: 43 ABV: 5.3% OG: 1.050 FG: 1.010
All ingredients you will need are included in this recipe kit. Malted Grain, Hops, Yeast, Irish Moss and brew water additions. (Malt Extract for Extract Option). Kit includes brewing instructions.
Size: 23 Litres (1/2 Batch option also available).

- Sour Grapes Malt
- Medium Crystal
or for the Extract with Partial Mash option:
- Liquid Malt Extract
- Specialty Malts (Steep)
Hops are all pre-measured for each addition and vac packed in foil bags to make your brew day easier. A combination of Pacific Jade for bittering, Wai-iti for aroma and late additions of Amarillo, Citra and Nelson Sauvin.
